Love Your Neighbors
Romans 13:1-10 NRSV
The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery; You shall not murder; You shall not steal; You shall not covet”; and any other commandment, are summed up in this word, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Romans 13:9)
Love has enough power to forgive, transform, and heal. Ponder: am I projecting the love of God within me?

The Lord Honors Patience
Lamentations 3:25-33 NRSV
The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul that seeks him. (Lamentations 3:25)
Take some time to reflect on why it is that sometimes waiting on God seems to be the hardest thing.

Transformed Giving and Praying
Matthew 6:1-6 NRSV
But whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you. (Matthew 6:6)
God knows the contents of hearts and lives. Communicate with God like God is familiar with who you are!

Filled with Grace
Acts 6:8-15 NRSV
Stephen, full of grace and power, did great wonders and signs among the people. (Acts 6:8)
God gifted us with grace, not to be held but to be lived. Grace drives kindness and compassion. How can you exhibit the grace of God today?
Monday, July 15
In keeping with our 2019-2020 Connectional Theme, “Economic Justice,” we will focus on specific prayer and action points on the topic of HBCUs and AME Schools in the months of July and August.
Pray for additional resources to be directed to Historically Black Colleges and Universities and AME Schools and Institutions of Higher Education, to support their administration and programs.
Pray for increased enrollments. Pray for increased confidence in the quality of education administered by HBCUs and AME schools and that negative opinions will be disproved.
Pray for the safety of students, teachers, and administrators during the summer break, that they will balance rest and recreation and be refreshed for another school year.
Commit to being invested in promoting HBCUs and AME schools as reputable institutions of learning and spreading information for wider visibility and awareness. Commit to supporting these institutions financially and with your presence.
Restrain Your Anger
Leviticus 24:16-22 NRSV
Anyone who maims another shall suffer the same injury in return. (Leviticus 24:19)
May restraint be a challenge to our quests to get even. Be conscious that God is watching your actions and reactions!
