Behavioral Action Goals of Christians
Romans 12:9-21 NRSV
No, “if your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them something to drink; for by doing this you will heap burning coals on their heads.” (Romans 12:20)
Our heart for Christ and His example should compel us to be kind to our enemies. Such are the marks of a true Christian.

New Life in Christian Community
Romans 12:1-8 NRSV
…We, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another. (Romans 12:5)
We are an interconnected community of believers! Can we celebrate our commonness and respect our differences, reminded that God created each of us differently?

Don’t Act by Human Standards
2 Corinthians 10:1-5 NRSV
I ask that when I am present I need not show boldness by daring to oppose those who think we are acting according to human standards. (2 Corinthians 10:3)
Obey Christ and confuse the enemy with your response to its taunts and actions.
Thursday, August 16
Treat Enemies with Love and Mercy
Luke 6:27-36 NRSV
But love your enemies, do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return. Your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High; for he is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked. (Luke 6:35)
Sometimes it’s hard to take the “high road” when someone offends or mistreats us. Follow the Most High’s example!

Respond to Abuse with a Blessing
1 Peter 3:8-12 NRSV
Do not repay evil for evil or abuse for abuse; but, on the contrary, repay with a blessing. It is for this that you were called—that you might inherit a blessing. (1 Peter 3:9)
When we encounter circumstances which tempt us to get even, remember that guidance, wisdom, and good judgment can set us free. Let God handle the rest.
