Always Do the Right

1 Peter 2:13-25

As servants of God, live as free people, yet do not use your freedom as a pretext for evil.

1 Peter 2:16 NRSV

Freedom in Christ calls us to exercise wisdom that guides how we live in community.

Flee From the Presence of Sin

Flee From the Presence of Sin

Genesis 18:20-22, 19:1-5, 15-17, 22-25

“Is anything too wonderful for the Lord? At the set time I will return to you, in due season, and Sarah shall have a son.” Genesis 18:14 NRSV

Find refuge in the strength of God’s promises. Be mindful as doubt allows the weight of our sin to leave us second-guessing divine blessings.

Turn Away from the Wicked

Turn Away from the Wicked

Numbers 16:12-13, 23-34

Is it too little that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey to kill us in the wilderness, that you must also lord it over us? Numbers 16:13 NRSV

If we are not careful, we will find ourselves grumbling over God’s generosity even as we stand among clear examples of God’s faithfulness.

The Faith in Which We Stand

Monday, February 26             African American History and Heritage Month

The Faith in Which We Stand

1 Corinthians 15:1-11

Now I would remind you, brothers and sisters, of the good news that I proclaimed to you, which you in turn received, in which also you stand, through which also you are being saved, if you hold firmly to the message that I proclaimed to you – unless you have come to believe in vain.

1 Corinthians 15:1-2 NRSV

Our faith gives us the strength to make a stand when life calls for such.

Pray for the spring series of annual conferences and all gathering to report on their work this past year.

Living by Faith

African American History and Heritage Month

Living by Faith

Habakkuk 2:1-5

Then the Lord answered me and said: Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so that a runner may read it. Habakkuk 2:2 NRSV

Engrave the vision in a place where it cannot easily be erased. What’s given to us by God cannot easily be erased by human hands.
