New Life Through the Spirit

Romans 8:1-11 NRSV

If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through his Spirit that dwells in you. (Romans 8:11)

Ponder: What in your life confirms that you are living a new life?

In keeping with our 2018 – 2019 Connectional Theme, “Economic Justice” we will focus on specific prayer and action points on the topic of Job Opportunity and Training in the months of October and November.

Pray that jobs will not be displaced or eliminated as a result of gentrification in minority communities.

Offer your skills to organizations which pool human and other resources to benefit minorities.

Love One Another

Romans 13:8-10 NRSV

Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. (Romans 13:8)

Your voice: Lord, help me to love those whom I find difficult to love. Remind me that you created them just like you created me. Change my heart and use me to show love to someone who feels unlovable. Thank you, Loving God. Amen.

Jesus Enables Victory Over Sin

Jesus Enables Victory Over Sin

Romans 7:14-25 NRSV

Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with my mind I am a slave to the law of God, but with my flesh I am a slave to the law of sin. (Romans 7:25)

Sin should have no victory over us. We disappoint God through our errant ways; but, we can repent. God’s only Son died that we would be redeemed. Hallelujah!

Examples of Faith to All Believers

1 Thessalonians 2:1-10 NRSV

You are witnesses, and God also, how pure, upright, and blameless our conduct was toward you believers. (1 Thessalonians 2:10)

Whether we like it or not, are aware or not, someone is watching your Christian example, or lack of.

Your voice: Lord, forgive me for times that I do not represent you as I should. Help me to be more aware that my conduct should please you. Amen
