Abraham, Father of the Faithful
Acts 7:2-7 NRSV
He did not give him any of it as a heritage, not even a foot’s length, but promised to give it to him as his possession and to his descendants after him, even though he had no child. Acts 7:5
Abraham wasn’t simply waiting for himself but for that which would be a blessing to those after him. Perhaps that is how our ancestors felt while praying for things they knew they wouldn’t experience.
